They keep their carbon footprint small by building all of their lights here in the states using US made parts, and they've been awarded by the state of California for their waste reduction efforts. Even though the company has a small impact, the same really can't be said for the likes of the Stella 600 Dual. True, the individual Stella lamps are quite compact and take up little space on your handlebars, but the effect is surprising.Light and Motion uses Cree emitters for the Stella Dual because they are super efficient and powerful. If you've noticed, the Dual is up from 400 lumens last year to 600 lumens, hence the name change. The difference is due primarily to the continued development of the emitter technology. Light and Motion has packaged the Stella 600 Dual in the same housings as the lesser lamps, but with more light than ever. Put in simple terms, 600 lumens is more than enough to illuminate off road riding on singletrack. So rest assured, the Stella 600 dual is a capable commuter light by any standard.A given by name, the Stella 600 Dual has two lamps, each producing 300 lumens. They each use different reflectors, one a spot and the other a flood. The effect of these two lights creates a just-right blend of light cast in front of your bike. The spot, of course, throws a bright white light straight down the trail, giving you the ability to see what's coming up fast. The flood casts a fill light around the spot to give you depth on trail features and room to see the sketchy stuff at the edges of the trail or into upcoming corners. And if you find yourself in super sloppy conditions, or get caught in a deluge on the way home, don't worry. Stella lamps are totally waterproof as are the cord connections.The Light and Motion Stella 600 Dual can be operated in two modes -- (1) Cruise mode allows you to toggle through high, medium, low, and flash.
