| Customer Reviews: Holy Smokes! March 13, 2010 Justin (Wyoming) I bought these to replace the aging Kenda Klaws on my MTB, in the slight hopes of gaining speed on the street(most of my riding is on streets or packed dirt trails). I think these might actually have more rolling resistance than the old knobbies, but where they really shine is cornering. The round profile makes the bike very responsive, and you can lay the bike on its side without the tires coming unstuck from the pavement. I'm in more danger of cratering my rims than losing traction. They're so soft and grippy that pebbles and sand stick to them. That might mean that they wear out quicker, but man, I'm going to have fun in the meantime. And, Niagara Cycle Works offers them for about half the price that my local high-end bike shop does.
perfect for what i need February 11, 2010 Me (Denver) i just got these today, put them on my electra cruiser, and rode around the city for an hour (nevermind that it is february in denver). they are perfect.
i rode on streets with snow and ice without a problem. sure, a more aggressive tire would have handled the ice better but would have had a lot more drag on a sunny summer day. very little noise or pull from these on the clear streets and sidewalks.
as a bonus they look really cool. i just wish they didn't have maxxis.com in big letters on the side, now everyone in the neighborhood will have these in 6 months.
Great for casual biking November 11, 2008 Eric R. Leitz (Alaska) These tires perform well on pavement and small amounts of mud. Excellent on gravel. Very smooth ride with little rolling resistance on smooth surfaces.
Mega fun for average touring, light chop November 17, 2007 ALLTONE (The West Coast) Wow, this is a terrific product. I have the more technical Minions on a hill blaster, but these Holy Rollers for a 30 mile pavement, light trail trip are a total blast. Very easy rolling, big and massive. Due to their mass you may loose a little in drag & weight, but my touring rig isn't setting any speed records anyway. I can run these almost top gear for miles and miles, and it's plush. Either wire or folding.
great tires July 20, 2006 Dennis E. Green 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Turned my hard tail to a urban bike. These tires stick like crazy and never stop rolling.
